St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church wants to provide our Putnam County neighbors with a private, safe, and comfortable location for family or client visitations. Renovations to the upstairs of Advent House through a matching grant from Church Buildings through Collaborative Partnerships has allowed St. Andrew’s to support Putnam County families seeking to be reunited by giving them a distraction-free and stigma-free place with multiple rooms furnished with toys and books for visitations, a pleasant and working bathroom, and a playground where children and parents can spend time together.
The parking lot and outdoor play area are invisible to the street, giving privacy and safety to children and parents. Other client-facilitator visits are welcome to use this space as well. A coded lock will make the space available at the agency’s convenience.
Advent House, the building just west of the church, houses church offices and our Non-food Pantry on the first floor. Church offices can be accessed through the front door. Office hours are 9:00 am -12:00 pm Monday through Thursday. The Shared Community Space is on the second floor. It is accessed by using the wooden back staircase to a second floor back door. Our shared space is not ADA compliant.
The space may be reserved by agency service providers only for up to 4 hours at a time between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 pm using Sign-Up Genius. If more time is needed, please contact St. Andrew’s and arrangements can be made. Agency service providers from each partner agency must be on site with their clients at all times.
Here is a partial list of those who may partner with St. Andrew’s and benefit from this project:
- Indiana Social Service: Division of Child Support (DCS)
- Homeless or space challenged families needing a place to visit while divorce or protective orders are pending
- Public defenders and clients
- Foster parents
- Parents working to be granted custody of their children
- Lactation Specialists and their clients
- Juvenile Probation Life Skills Specialists meeting with clients
Community partners who use this space will be asked to read and sign a Use Agreement Form. Information on building use and the use agreement form will be forwarded to each partner agency after an initial contact with St. Andrew’s. A hard copy of the signed use agreement should be brought to St. Andrew’s and delivered to the front office. This form may be left in our locked mailbox outside business hours. A scanned emailed copy will work also. Each agency will be given a code to use in order to unlock and access the space. This code should be kept private by the agency and reused as needed.
The space is now ready for use at any time. Agencies wishing to use the space may contact St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 765-653-3921 or standrewsgreencastle@gmail.com.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church looks forward to serving the citizens and families of Putnam County.
