Dear St. Andrew’s family and friends,
Last Sunday we had a long-anticipated visit from our Bishop, Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows. What a warm and engaging person she is. She and Canon Kristin White were with us for several hours and they shared a message of calm, anticipation and hope with our small parish that has had to cope with not only a pandemic, but with a frustrating, long search for a new rector.
We learned we are not alone in our struggle to regain our sense of self, as a church, and the need to ask each member what makes participation in the life of St. Andrew’s important to you? Maybe we will cling to “the way things were” or perhaps we will build a new vision and dream about what we can become. Wherever this road leads, I know that I am blessed to travel it with each of you. There is much we can learn from each other and much work to do here in God’s kingdom.
Bishop Jennifer’s sermon encouraged us to love and forgive; to treat everyone with respect; and always to be filled with gratitude for all we have been given. These are important reminders from a very wise woman and we at St. Andrew’s have been given much.
I hope this week is a joyful one for you and yours.
