Glimpses of Spring
I hope this finds you enjoying our first real glimpses of spring and the promise that it holds. We know we might still have some of those “tug of war” temperatures in the weeks to come, but just watching the ferocity of our young spring flowers pushing up through the ground; days getting longer; more Covid vaccines reaching arms and us marking the half-way point in Lent, assure us that hope abounds for our future and this world.
Many of you have asked when we will be able to return to in person worship at St. Andrew’s. Bishop Jennifer has promised new guidelines are coming soon and the recent CDC’s news is so encouraging. We will be waiting to hear from the Bishop and scheduling an opportunity for the Regathering Committee and the Vestry to discuss possible different opportunities. As mentioned before, we are going to be planning a service in the Memorial Garden for Pentecost (May 23rd), at the very least. Stay tuned.
Unlike many churches during these months of the pandemic we have continued to be blessed with the music from our incredible organist. Albrecht, you have added a richness to our services that we are all so grateful for. Our cadre of lectors and intercessors; the cantoring of Carrie and Terry; thought provoking words from Father Mark; special music from Martha and Terry; and a few children’s services have all kept our church family together in worship. St. Andrew’s has much to be grateful for and I am confident that with patience and prayer we will be able to successfully move forward with our search and move back into our worship space. Just like those spring flowers, the people of St. Andrew’s are strong and pushing through.

Prayers and Reflections for the fourth week of Lent
Let everyone understand that the real love of God does not consist in tear-shedding, nor in that sweetness and tenderness for which we often long, just because they console us, but in serving God by serving those around us, in justice, fortitude of soul, and humility. – Teresa of Avila
More is accomplished by prayer if one carries it quietly on one’s heart than if one uses many words about it every day. – Author Unknown
Daily reflections and scripture readings are often part of our practices for Lent. This year, you can take advantage of readings and reflections all in one place and written by persons from Saint Andrew’s, Gobin UMC and Beach Grove UMC. The daily meditations will be in the newsletter each week and go from Wednesday to Tuesday, except for Sunday. Whether you enjoy these every day, or as the Spirit moves you, may this resource be a blessing!

A Limerick from Maureen Carkeek
Saint Andrew’s made my birthday bright
with cards and food to my delight
and what a choir to inspire.
Their greetings made my day just right!
Thank you everyone!!!

Non Food Pantry Latest
Saturday, March 27
• Noon to 3:00 p.m.
There will be a drive through distribution and no lunch. Kate Berry is coordinating the distribution. We are very grateful to Martha Rainbolt, Carl Huffman, Karen Hirt Mannon, and Christiane Wisehart who have worked very hard to obtain supplies for the Non-Food Pantry. Kroger is not able to acquire enough products for us so the items are being purchased from a variety of sources. This is much more expensive. Donations to help offset this extra cost will be gratefully accepted!
