When it comes to music,

St. Andrew’s has been abundantly blessed. Arthur Carkeek’s long tenure as organist helped establish the parish as one where great worship and music mattered. Over the years, St. Andrew’s became home to many DePauw music faculty and their families, to organ and other music majors and to many music-living parishioners.

Music has had a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of this parish for a long time – and several times each year this building hosts wonderful recitals or other musical offerings in addition to the music on a Sunday. We traditionally have a wonderful jazz trio on Shrove Tuesday. Open to all in the community, this musical offering livened up the eating of pancakes and sausage as we prepared to enter the season of Lent.  It is, like all of our offerings, always open to the public. We hope to get the word out so that others in the Greencastle and Putnam County area might come to celebrate with us the wonderful gift of music and musical instruments.

Music must mirror the very people it serves, proclaiming in sound who they are.
